Lost Histories

of Richmond, Virginia

The old atlases, and there are several, of Richmond often had beautiful frontispieces within their pages. This 1877 atlas, produced by F. W. Beers, is no exception.

When writing the house narratives that are attached as PDFs to various pages of this site, I uncovered lost histories of people who created the city as we know today. Some were builders, some were makers, some were doers. It’s hard to find those histories buried in the PDFs, so I am bringing them forward as separate pages under this tab, hoping that they are more likely to be found.

The stories under this tab, then, will be redundant to narratives you can find in the PDF links which are provided.
